Westminster Head Coach Andrew Bryan Talks State Championship Game
The Wildcats will attempt to make it 2 championships in 3 seasons to add to a long list of state titles for WSA's athletic department.
Westminster Schools of Augusta (7-2) will visit Windsor Academy (8-1) in Macon Friday night in the Georgia Independent School Association 8-man football state championship game. The game will be a rematch of the 2019 championship game, which Westminster won on its home field at Wildcat Stadium on Wheeler Road.
In the interview below, athletic director and head coach Andrew Bryan gave us a preview of Friday’s big game. And he took us through Westminster’s 38-21 road win over defending state champion Westwood in last Friday’s semifinal round. Bryan also talked about senior leaders Carter Huss and Whitt Tisdale, as well as his record breaking freshman quarterback Levi Murphey.
More from Andrew Bryan
If the GISA has a “hall of fame” for athletics, there has to be spot in it for Bryan, who led Curtis Baptist to a state championship as a star basketball player for the Crusaders in 1994 before an illustrious career as a coach and athletic director. Below Bryan talks about the fact that at least one of Westminster’s athletic teams has won a state championship in every single year since Bryan has been the AD at the school.
