Traevon Dunbar's Transfer News Kicks Off the 2022 Season
After leading Silver Bluff to a lower state championship, Dunbar's "back home"
Traevon Dunbar - Jr. Running Back - Midland Valley
Junior Traevon Dunbar, who piled up rushing yards and touchdowns at an unprecedented clip during his first two seasons at Silver Bluff, will suit up for Midland Valley this season. Dunbar shared on his Twitter account Wednesday that the move to the Valley puts him back with his “brothers.”
Dunbar led Silver Bluff to the class 2A state championship game last season. The 5-9 and 190 pound back rushed for 1,909 yards and 28 touchdowns. He gained an average of 9 yards per carry and 159 per game. The recruiting site 247 Sports lists the following schools as having offered Dunbar a scholarship: Arkansas, Boston College, Eastern Kentucky, Louisville, and Michigan State.
After a preseason scrimmage this morning against Ridge Spring-Monetta at Midland Valley, Dunbar explained why he feels so good about the change in scenery:
“Me and my team, I’ve played with them since Gregg Park and Levalle McCampbell,” Dunbar explained, referring to the recreation center in Aiken County and the middle school he attended. “I basically grew up with half of them. Know their family, know everything. So basically it feels like home when I came back and transferred to Midland Valley.”
On Dunbar’s Twitter feed, which is loaded with clips of him slicing through opposing defenses, he has also announced offers from Penn State, Virginia Tech and Ole Miss.
Dunbar is currently recovering from an offseason injury.
The Mustangs will open the season at home on August 19th against Grovetown in a cross border non region matchup.
