Previewing Today’s Thanksgiving Classic Games at Augusta University

Happy Thanksgiving and come spend part of your weekend with us watching great high school basketball action at Augusta University.

The 100 Black Men Thanksgiving Classic opener will feature Putnam County, a class 2A state playoff team last season, against Evans, a 6A quarter finalist the last two seasons.

Putnam County head coach Pat Marshall spoke about highly accomplished returning players Malik Thornton and Eren Banks during a “media day” interview last week at Augusta University.

#4 Butler (2A) vs #6 Warren County (1A)

This is one of the most highly anticipated games. Warren County head coach Uriah Myrick did a wonderful job introducing us to his program and his players during his interview last week.

Greenbrier (5A) vs Lakeside (6A)

This game is a rematch from the season opener on November 12, which Greenbrier won at Lakeside. These two schools have been rivals ever since they’ve both existed. Hear from coaches Dee Howard (Greenbrier) and Brad Powers (Lakeside) here:

#3 Westside (2A) vs #6 Jones County (5A)

Augusta native Buck Harris will bring his #6 ranked Jones County squad to the 100 Black Men Thanksgiving Classic to do battle with his alma mater, #3 ranked Westside.

Harris described his team, the challenge Westside will pose, his all-state caliber guards, and an early season matchup against #4 Butler in this interview.
